If by a happy coincidence you have become the owner of the very first Moomin book from 1945, to top it all off both the edition published in Finland (in Swedish, Tove Jansson wrote in Swedish) and the edition published in Sweden, then you are not a real Moomin collector unless you also want the first Danish edition of the same book in 1954, or the first edition in the Finnish language in 1991 (yes, it is true, the first Moomin book could not be read in Finnish until 1991, 46 years after it came out in Swedish; this is peculiar because Moomin today is a national symbol of Finland). Well, as a collector, you want all the editions in all the different countries of the first Moomin book, not just the original edition, to be able to compare and study. But wanting is one thing, being able another. I got as far as the Danish one from 1954, which is also in the auction.

I samband med auktionen "Tove Jansson och Mumin ur Magnus Palms samlingar" välkomnar vi den 21 maj till den svenska releasen av boken "Skatter från Mumindalen – Samlarens guide till Tove Janssons mumintroll", av Anders Landén. Författaren är på plats och berättar om det över två år långa äventyr det innebar att kartlägga samlarföremål med muminanknytning från mitten av 1940-talet till idag.
Boken omfattar över 500 sidor, med 1 200 bilder, bland annat omslag från 400 förstautgåvor från 50 länder, leksaker, böcker, dockor, figuriner, med mera. Magnus Palm kommer att finnas på plats för att prata om delar av sin Mumin-samling som nu ligger ute på auktion.
