The Catalan painter and graphic artist Juan Abelló Prat began his career as an autodidact. He studied in Barcelona and became a student of Pere Pruna. Numerous study trips took him through Eupopa and North Africa, to London, Belgium, Paris and to the Isle of Man. In the 1960s, he returned to his hometown of Mollet. Mollet is now home to the Abelló City Museum, which houses not only the artist's works but also his extensive collection of works of art. Abello Prat always remained true to the figurative style and created expressive still lifes and landscapes with a heavy brushstroke typical of him.
