Facts about the film:
Jönssonligan shows up again is a 1986 Swedish film comedy directed by Mikael Ekman and starring Gösta Ekman, Ulf Brunnberg, Björn Gustafson and others. It is the fourth film about Jönssonligan. The first three films used scripts with Danish publishers, but this film is based entirely on an idea conceived by Rolf Börjlind in collaboration with lead actor Gösta Ekman and director Mikael Ekman.
Act
The Jönsson League — Charles-Ingvar “Sickan” Jönsson, Ragnar Vanheden and Dynamit-Harry — strike at Ikea's cash storage with a clever plan, but in the final stages the alarm goes off and they don't get the money. On the other hand, Sickan discovers that a league is using returned Ikea furniture to smuggle American military equipment into the Soviet Union. During his brief stay in Sweden, the military equipment is kept in the so-called armored room in Director Wall-Enberg's headquarters and guarded by his torpedoes around the clock. If the Jönssonligan can steal the equipment in the armored room, they can then extort Wall-Enberg for money.
A Soviet submarine is supposed to secretly pick up the stolen equipment, but when they arrive at the rendezvous, both the Jönsson League, the police and the Wall-Enberg gang are on the scene. Sickan and his cronies manage to trick off the rivals equipment by masking an ordinary rowboat into a submarine tower and having Vanheden swim ashore in a diving suit. They then deliver it but unfortunately get paid in rubles printed before the revolution.
At the same time, Doris has bought a sofa in Ikea's bargain corner. When she meets up with the league on a ferry to Finland, it turns out that one of the cushions is filled with the money from the IKEA heist.
Five years after the premiere of the first film about Jönssonligan came the fourth, and the first to be made on a Swedish original script. The original script was written by the trio Gösta Ekman (who also plays Sickan), Mikael Ekman and Rolf Börjlind who also wrote the original script for the next film Jönssonligan in Mallorca.
During the filming, a serious accident occurred, as Gösta Ekman was clamped in a food elevator. Due to the injuries he sustained, he was forced to be on sick leave for three weeks. In some of the scenes, Gösta was therefore replaced by his brother Mikael Ekman.
