Description

The 'Sgian Dubh' (black dagger) is a traditional Scottish knife, also known as a “stocking dagger.” Since the 18th century, the Sgian Dubh was part of the kilt equipment of the Highland Scots. It was carried face down as Scots were prohibited from carrying weapons under the Disarming Act.

The handle is made of ebony wood, crown-setting and jewel-imitation at the end, the sheath is made of leather-covered wood. The metal fittings are made of silver-plated brass, the blade is single-edged.

Hallmark on the sheath '? Y&T bell C'

Length ca. 19 cm, width approx. 3.5 cm.
