BIRGITTA FLINK
Birgitta was born in Skara in 1914 as the daughter of writer Hugo Swensson and his wife Alma
Andersson.
After a short period at the Art Academy in Stockholm, she came to Valand's painting school in Gothenburg, where during the years 1935-38 she studied under Sigfrid Ullman. In the latter year, she married the artist Rudolf Flink (1906-1988). She was considered early on to be a distinct representative of the generation of painters who received their education at Valand during Sigfrid Ullman's years as a teacher. In the current painting from the port of Gothenburg, the artist demonstrates an unusually expressive style with a high degree of abstraction that lifts the traditional motif to a completely different level.
Birgitta Flink is represented in Gothenburg's art museum and Västergötland's museum in Skara.
