Glazed stoneware. Different glazes. The height of the vases 13-29 cm.
It took a few years to put together a complete series of Stig Lindberg's Vitrin series. It was intended to convey artistically high quality stoneware to the common man through a cheaper price, achieved through a simplified production process. At launch, all 14 pieces were offered in a gift box.
I remember the excitement when a collector colleague told me that the last piece I was missing was at the Stockholms Stadsmission store on Köpmangatan in Gamla stan and that he had put it away for me.
Although the series was then complete, I continued collecting it, as each part came in varying glazes, and my goal was to get all the parts together in at least three glazes; the most common glazes went in the main colors blue, brown and white. So when Millesgården came and wanted to lend the whole series to their big Stig Lindberg exhibition in 2021, they could choose from many different glazes to get 14 pieces that fit together.
The vitrine series sold here is exactly the same one that was exhibited at Millesgården (and later wandered on to Västerbotten Museum in Umeå).
The part that is most difficult to find is not so surprising the meager “water tower”. /MP
Provenance: Millesgården, “Stig Lindberg”, 2021-22 and Västerbotten Museum, “Stig Lindberg” 2022-23

Minor Normal wear and tear, some marks.
