Description

PROVENANCE: Gallerist Birgitta Schmutz (1941-2023) who began her career in Manhattan Beach, USA in the 1960s where she sold art glass from Orrefors and Kosta, among others. In the 1970s she moved to Sweden, and worked in several shops for art glass after which she opened her own gallery, Galleri Glas Ett, on Strandvägen and later on Karlavägen in Stockholm. She also organized exhibitions at Hässelby Castle, at Galleri Doktor Glas and at Reijmyre glassworks. Birgitta was passionate about unestablished glass artists and was curious about manufacturing techniques and new expressions. She loved color.
