Description
White porcelain, edges with lime green background, polychome painting, lace painting in gold.
Multiple medallions in the mirror, partly with flowers on a black and brown ground in round cartouches through radially articulated lace ornaments running towards the gold borders in the gorge. Richly painted banners with alternating rectangular and oval cartouches connected by fine gold arabesques. In each of them a flower arrangement and musical instruments, pitchers, etc. in grisaille style. 6 pieces, consisting of three soup plates (Dm: 24 cm) and three salad/dessert plates (Dm: 24.5 cm). Manufactory stamp partly in gold and blue with dating, double cipher of King Louis-Philippe in green and the stamp ´CHÂTEAU D'EU` in red. Various painter's signets.
The Sèvres manufactory was commissioned by King Louis Philippe in 1836 to produce a service for his residence in the EU. Production took several years. In 1847 most of the services for the castle were delivered.
Condition
Good condition with slight signs of age and minimal partial rubbing, one soup plate bumped on the edge.
