Description

Parchment leaves from the medieval Lectionary. Used as a cover for an example. by Andreas Caesalpinus Aretinus: De metallicis libri tres, Nürnberg 1602, and when the book was bound in 1928 taken care of.

2 pages, 4 columns of 36 lines each, text partly in red and blue, text area 275x185, total area 345x215 mm. Stained, 1 repaired hole in left margin, 1 hole in right column with minor text loss.
Later marbled pbd with brown leather spine.

The text reproduced is from the Bible 2 Cor. XI: 24-33 and XII: 1-9 3 pages of handwriting by Carl Sahlin in folio with reproduced text included.

Carl Sahlin (1861-1943), industrialist, mountain council and mountain historian.
He began his collecting already as a mining apprentice in 1897, later became deputy manager and head of the ironworks department at Stora Kopparbergs Bergslags AB 1893–1900, later mill manager at Laxå mill. S. was chairman of the Järnverksföreningen 1904–28, also a representative in the Jernkontoret. He published a number of writings on mining and mining history subjects (including numismatics) and laid the foundation for Bergslaget's library and museum. He was involved in the creation of the Technical Museum, and his mountain history collection and part of the library, half a century of collecting, were donated to the Technical Museum in 1933 and contain documents relating mainly to the Swedish iron and steel industry throughout the ages.
