Nikolaus Störtenbecker (1940-2022), elderberry bush, oil on canvas, 1992, monogrammed and dated lower right, approx. 80 x 90 cm, with frame approx. 91 x 100.5 cm.

Störtenbecker studied at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg. He was a co-founder of the artists' group ZEBRA and a member of the painters' association of the North German Realists, whose conception of the picture is based on the tradition of realism and pleinairism of the 19th century.
