History Positano is a small town and municipality in the province of Salerno in Campania in southwestern Italy located along the Amalfi Coast, an hour's drive south of Naples. Positano was a relatively poor fishing village during the first half of the 20th century. Tourists began to arrive only in the 1950s, especially after John Steinbeck published an essay about Positano in 1953.

Monotype is an artistic printing technique where each print image is unique, as the printing plate is prepared with a technique where the image is not retained after printing.
