Peter Max Freudenthal, born July 6, 1938 in Norrköping, is a Swedish painter and graphic artist. He studied art, art history, archeology and ethnography at Stockholm University. In 1962 he worked as an archaeologist in northern Sudan, where the local architecture inspired him for his first abstract paintings.
Freudenthal debuted in Stockholm in 1966 and has exhibited his art both in the United States and in various places in Europe. He prefers to describe his art style, which is commonly called constructivism, as geometric abstraction. Some of his motifs draw inspiration from the Jewish tradition, and his works have been described as "musical". In 2002 he exhibited together with Einar Höste and Lars Englund at Lund's art gallery. Freudenthal was awarded the Östgöta Art Association's scholarship in 2012.
His art is represented at several prominent institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the National Museum, the Modern Museum, The Jewish Museum in New York, The Israel Museum in Jerusalem, Norrköping Art Museum, Kalmar Art Museum, the Gävleborg County Museum, Halland's Cultural History museum, Östergötland museum and Örebro county council.
