Fritz Kohlstädt (1921-2000), serigraph, 69/150 (further prints available), signed verso lower right.
Dimensions: 52 x 61.5 cm (height x width) Fritz Kohlstädt's works bear the special quality of qualitative consistency through fresh painterly effects and timelessness.
His works were mostly created from the framework of nature sketches and drawings which he made on site. These served him as a basis for the elaboration and development of large-format paintings. In the course of his creative period he increased his artistic expression. His works showed more and more expressionist tendencies.
Important painterly development phases: 1947-1959 can be called his first phase. Here the expression in his painting gradually increased and reminded of the shabby painter Hermann Pleuer through its impressiveness.
From around 1960, the transition to expressive Expressionism gradually took place. The encounter with the works of artistic personalities: Nolde, Pechstein, Kirchner and Co. were kind of a revelation to him. This experience filled Kohlstädt with his very own, newly defined wealth of ideas and changed his artistic direction.
Another work phase (approx. 1975-1990), also known as the "long breath period". His painterly rhythm now concentrates on a few pictorial elements defined by the contour.
A severe stroke in 1990 hit Fritz Kolstädt hard and affected his artistic work process. Nevertheless, many paintings are still being made.
Framed behind glass. Very good condition.
