approx. 28x33 cm EVY LÅÅS Evy Låås was born in Spånga in 1923.
She received her first artistic education as a 17-year-old at the Technical School in Stockholm, followed by studies at Edvin Oller's painting school and Otte Sköld's painting school.
She then studied during the years 1949-1955 at the Academy of Fine Arts. She had her debut exhibition at the prestigious Galleri Blanche in 1956 in Stockholm. Over the years, exhibitions followed, among others at Gallery Prisma and Gallery Doktor Glas in the same city, as well as around Sweden. In addition, she participated in exhibitions internationally.
As early as 1951, Evy Låås had made her first trip to Africa and she went on to make several work trips there over the years. During these stays, she lived and drew and painted from inside the game reserves. Even at home in Sweden, animals came to be of great importance as motifs in her art.
Evy Låås possessed a distinctive ability to observe the anatomy and movements of animals, which she then reproduced in a simultaneously spare and close-minded way.
Together with Inga Borg, Evy Låås created several picture books inspired by the stays in Africa, such as "Drawings from the savannah", "Days with Simba" and "The giraffe can't sleep".
In 1982, Evy Låås published "Lejonmorgon" with drawings from savannah landscapes.
Evy Låås lived with the artist Anders Fogelin. She is represented at the National Museum and the Moderna Museet.
