Description
PROVENANCE: Purchased at Galleri Engström approx. 11.5x15.5 cm OTHER: Stig Danielson (1936-2014). Grew up in Saltsjöbaden, next door to Karl Gerhard, and socialized in intellectual and artistic circles. He started painting early and studied at the Art Academy 1962-1967 with Evert Lundquist. Stig Danielson was very inspired by Rembrandt and Goya.
He had a strong social and humanitarian pathos and liked to work thematically. He did not favor difficult subjects and spent many years on projects around prostitution, the Soviet war in Afghanistan and long-term care. He is represented at the Modern Museum in Stockholm.
The son Jakob Senneby, like his father, has become an artist who engages in important contemporary issues.
