Jean Luis de Lolme (1740-1806) was a Swiss lawyer and political philosopher. While in exile in England, where he sustained himself as a writer and journalist, he published his "Constitution..." in 1771. The year after "A parallel between the English constitution and the former government of Sweden; containing some observations on the late revolution in that Kingdom" was published. It was highly critical of the period called the age of freedom (1719-72). His bboks made a strong impression on John Adams, one of the American "founding fathers".
