Description

Formerly a double-sided icon depicting Mary and Joseph next to the crucifix in the three-nail type, this INRI and Memento Mori (by skull) inscribed. Behind the cross cavity, possibly for personal relics. Above this scene blessing God the Father (?) with Christ Child. All persons are shown with a halo made of applied metal. Dating 1850 / 1890, possibly a companion from the Greek-Turkish War. Dimensions: 24.5 x 37.5 x 3.5 cm.

Condition

Flaws in the painting and version in places, the left side of the wood badly eaten away by woodworm.
