Description

From the estate of Bill Michael Laux (1957-2021), 'Kind of Blue', 2020, acrylic on canvas, framed, signed and dated '2020' on the reverse, dimensions: 40 x 30 cm.

As a puppeteer and employee in the Düsseldorf Marionette Theater and later as a trained carpenter, Bill Michael Laux gained a wide range of experience in the field of design. After formative personal experiences, he developed his own artistic expression more and more intensively parallel to carpentry. From 2004 he concentrated entirely on his art and presented his sculptures, light objects and fire barrels in individual and group exhibitions.

Always looking for something new, at least try everything: fire barrels, old and new sheet metal, prints, graphics, metal sculptures, wooden masks/sculptures, painting (including oil, acrylic, lacquer, colored pencils, pigments, pastels, on all imaginable surfaces) , PET, bronze, plastic... - nothing, really nothing was safe from Bill. Breathing new life into old things was his passion. "Something always works..." was one of his guiding principles.

The results are wonderful, fantastic objects, figures and symbols that sometimes appear very graphic and sometimes rather organic.

Bill Michael Laux lived and worked on Kiefernstrasse in Düsseldorf-Flingern, also known as the street of artists. The Kiefernstraße owes its level of fame to the squatting in the 1980s. Today it is a dream for everyone who likes things colorful and alternative: Kiefernstrasse is the perfect alternative to posh Königsallee. Due to its elaborately painted facades, it is now known beyond the city limits as a total work of art.

Bill Michael Laux's works are held by private collectors and institutions throughout Europe.
