The full-rigger AF CHAPMAN underwent an extensive refit and rebuild in 2006-2008.
All old hostel furnishings were torn out and replaced with new furnishings in fire-rated materials.
Some old furnishings, such as a number of chests of drawers and ship's bookshelves from the petty officers' cabins, were taken care of and refurbished, rather than discarded. A pair of chairs of the same type found in the preserved Gunroom furniture were newly manufactured. The chairs are mao newly manufactured copies.
Some old demolition wood (middle deck wood and wood from deck house roof) was taken care of instead of discarded, and later used to make souvenirs (name boards).
