Description

Antique map. Braun, Georg & Hogenberg, Frans, cartographers. A framed hand-colored original copper engraving of the island of Hven in the time of Tycho Brahe. Published in Nuremberg in the 1580s in the magnum opus Civitates Orbis Terrarum (Cities of the World) by Georg Braun and Frans Hogenberg. Contains separate images of Uranienborg and astronomical instruments. Framed without passepartout. The image measures approx. 34 x 47.5 cm. , in frame approx. 42.5 cm. x 54 cm. Older hand coloring.
According to a letter on the back from Rönnells Antikvariat, it is estimated that the coloring is from the 17th century.

Condition

With center folds from the atlas, as always. Somewhat sunny and slightly stained margins.
