Description
Height approx. 38 cm, 40.5x24 cm HISTORY: For the competition for a national monument for the Riksdag house in 1910, Boberg made the ironic proposal Sov i ro. It depicts a sleeping Mother Svea on her throne. She is surrounded by the ravens Hugin and Munin, who are also sleeping and on either side of her, pressed down in boots, we find the hero kings Karl XII and Gustav II Adolf.
https://www.skissernasmuseum.se/samlingen/sov-i-ro-sven-boberg-1910/ PROVENANCE: Ulrika Ullman (1872-1943), then bequeathed to the current owner. Ulrika Ullman was married in 1908-36 to the architect Aron Johansson, the creator of the Riksdag house.
