approx. 29x41 cm frame size 50x60 cm The artist Curt Agge - a tribute to nature Curt Agge (1929-2021) was a Swedish visual artist and Art Brut sculptor. Crafoord Auctions has the great pleasure of presenting around 40 works by this poet of color and master of light. Agge mainly painted landscapes in oil and gouache, but the auction also includes model studies and a number of flower still lifes.

Norrland artist Curt Agge was born in Njurunda but lived mainly in Gimåfors in Ånge municipality. As early as 1947, Agge made his debut with an exhibition at Hotel Knaust in Sundsvall. From 1958 onwards, he made annual study trips to Paris, and to the rest of France, Spain, Portugal, North Africa and the USA in various installments. He was very productive and had studios in Sweden, Norway and Switzerland.

After ten years of experimenting, he came up with a gouache technique where he blew up the color pigments with the help of alcohol. He created fascinating effects like bubbling and heated lava. A time-wasting method that the southern French artists also practiced. The motifs that celebrated nature were often taken from the Stockholm archipelago and from the Swedish and Norwegian mountain world.

Distinctive for Curt Agge were also his rich colors and broad brushwork where irrelevant details had to give way to the whole. Agge worshiped the light and the dramatic in nature. He captured the different shifts and colors of the light, not least from Medelpad.

Agge was a member of the Artists' Club in Stockholm and the Academia D'Europa in Italy. He received the Art Academy's work scholarship in 1973-74. Agge ran regular exhibitions in Sweden and participated in a large number of exhibitions abroad such as Le Salon des Nations Paris. He exhibited separately at Dalarnas Museum and Hälsinglands Museum and is represented in the German and Swedish state collections, Dalarnas, Jämtlands, Sundsvalls Museum and in the County Council collections.

Curt Agge (1929-2021) var en svensk bildkonstnär och Art Brut-skulptör. Crafoord Auktioner har det stora nöjet att presentera ett 40-tal verk av denna färgpoet och ljusmästare. Agge målade företrädesvis landskap i olja och gouache men auktionen innehåller även modellstudier och ett antal blomsterstilleben.

Norrlandskonstnären Curt Agge föddes i Njurunda men bodde främst i Gimåfors i Ånge kommun. Redan 1947 debuterade Agge med en utställning på Hotell Knaust i Sundsvall. En tidsödande metod som även de sydfranska konstnärerna praktiserade. Motiven som hyllade naturen hämtades ofta från Stockholm skärgård och från den svenska och norska fjällvärlden.

Utmärkande för Curt Agge var även hans rika kolorit samt breda penselföring där ovidkommande detaljer fick ge vika för helheten. Agge dyrkade ljuset och det dramatiska i naturen. Han fångade ljusets olika skiftningar och färger, inte minst från Medelpad.

Agge var ledamot i Konstnärsklubben i Stockholm samt i Academia D’Europa i Italien . Han fick ta emot Konstakademiens arbetsstipendium 1973-74. Agge bedrev en regelbunden utställningsverksamhet i Sverige och deltog i ett stort antal utställningar utomlands som Le Salon des Nations Paris. Han ställde bland annat ut separat på Dalarnas Museum och Hälsinglands Museum samt finns representerad i tyska samt svenska statens samlingar, Dalarnas, Jämtlands, Sundsvalls Museum och i Landstingssamlingarna.
