It is said that "the lightweight was a counterweight to inbreeding in the countryside". "Drängmoped", it was called, among other things, or the "Skullcracker". A slightly cheekier nickname was "Pittvärmaren". That expression has its basis in the fact that many of the early lightweights had the engine placed high up on the frame, close to the crotch of the driver, who was almost always a guy. With the lightweight it was possible to go around to the dance floors outside the parish and it was also excellent to visit the maids in slightly more distant villages. It was in the 1930s that the vehicle type made a breakthrough. The Folkhem idea had begun to break down the worst class differences and industrial and agricultural workers could finally buy something beyond the absolute necessities of life. A car or a real motorcycle was out of the question. But the lightweight motorcycle, the lightweight, could be made cheaply.
