Krummacher studied at the Düsseldorf Academy, where he met the founders of the Worpswede artist colony, Fritz Mackensen and Otto Modersohn. After stays in Berlin and Munich, he settled in Worpswede in 1899. There he created numerous landscapes in the Impressionist style and depictions of the local farmers.
