Constantine the Great or Constantine I (Gaius Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus), born 27 February 272 in Naissus (now Niš in Serbia), died 22 May 337 in Nicomedia (now İzmit in Turkey) was a Roman emperor from the time he was proclaimed Augustus by his troops on July 25, 306 until his death.
