2018230. CARL WESTMAN. "Workers' furniture", frame chairs, 2 pcs., designed in 1899.
Description
seat height approx. 44 cm HISTORY: The current chair was designed for Stockholm's Arbetarinstitut's exhibition "The Green Room" in 1899. Westman was strongly committed to social issues and protested against the heavy bourgeois furniture of the time by designing a more functional piece of furniture intended for the working class. With its bold design language, however, the chair primarily appealed to the cultural elite and became mainly a feature in Djursholm's and Saltsjöbaden's villa homes.
Damage: Damage: Wear, later painting.
Condition
Repainted, wear, color loss, one with reinforcement.
