
Approx. 93 x 84 cm Stig Carlsson 1932 - 2008, was a Swedish sculptor and designer. He was the father of the artist Maria Drott. Stig Carlsson was an early apprentice at Rörstrand's porcelain factory, where he was inspired by Gunnar Nylund to work as an artist. He studied at the Art School in Stockholm and during study trips to Italy and Spain. He was employed in 1955 as artistic director at the Ifö works in Bromölla. In the mid-1970s, he converted the old disused guesthouse Strandhem in Nyhamnsläge into a studio, exhibition space and residence. Here he came to create hundreds of large decorations in wood and ceramics for churches, hospitals and sports facilities around the country. Among his public works are a bronze foundation for Lidköping's square, a ceramic relief for Hägerstens parish, Metal relief with cut nails and sheet metal details on blasted fur for Svenska Stålpressnings AB in Olofström, as well as ten numbered reliefs in a series of thirty in St. Hans' church in Grove.
