Provenien's Frigga Carlberg was a leading figure in the Swedish suffrage movement during the early 20th century and chairman of the Gothenburg branch of the National Association for Women's Political Suffrage. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson was a Norwegian writer and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1903. The current owner has had the letters in the family since Carlberg received them.
