Ulrich Hübner (1872-1932), St. Pauli Landungsbrücken, Hamburg, oil on canvas, 1911, catalog raisonné Simone Westerhausen No. 108, signed and dated, additionally titled and inscribed on the reverse of the stretcher, approx. 124 x 142 cm, with elaborate stucco frame approx. 154x170 cm.
The Berlin secessionist artist Ulrich Hübner created numerous harbor images and spent part of the summer months in Hamburg. Maritime themes occupy an important place in the artist's work.
EXHIBITION: Berlin 1911, 22. Exhibition of the Berlin Secession (No. 120 or No. 121 possible, with ill.) Berlin 1913, Royal. Academy of Arts, exhibition on the occasion of the emperor's reign anniversary, no. 105 possible.
(Two paintings with the same title were exhibited in the summer exhibition of the Secession in 1911, so the catalog numbers cannot be clearly assigned. However, there is an illustration of the painting in the Secession catalogue).

Restored tear in the lower image area, here retouched and backed on the reverse; additionally an extensive retouching in the area of the sky, altogether more browned; Stucco frame with small defects, partially broken and glued.
