Description

Qing, nineteenth century, the mountainous river scene, with a boat carrying bundles of fabric, bird cages, baskets and other wares, being attacked by a smaller vessel, the occupants some being repelled, others raiding, one setting light to the boat, some figures fleeing and swimming away, a house with occupants viewing beyond, watercolour and gouache on paper, within black tramline borders.
69cm x 118.5cm (75cm x 124cm including frame).

Condition

under glass, unexamined out of glazed frame, some browning fading and marks overall, some patchy surface loss to sky area, some yellowing along bottom margin, old light creasing, some very small closed tears to margins.
