Flavio Poli, Murano glass block vase, height: 12 cm, made in Italy.

Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was one of the modern masters of Murano glass. Born in Chioggia, Italy, Poli started collaborating with Seguso Vetri d'Arte and eventually became its creative director in the second half of the 1930s.

Famous for his designs using submerged glass, known as the 'Sommerso' technique, (made by overlapping different layers of glass with a variety of consistency and colors) his works were presented in various editions of Venice's Biennale and Milan's Triennale, as well as in the World Fair held in Brussels.

Today, his masterpieces are on display in Museo Boncompagni Ludovisi and Trocello's Museum of Glass.
