Three large 4:o volumes in contemporary half-French bindings with gilt spine text and sparse spine gilding. 1. 1817. 1576 columns + 16 columns with 12 fold-out copperplates neatly attached to the bound blue printed original covers at the end. 2. 1818:1. Heft I-VI. 1107 columns + 5 pages + 15 folding copperplates neatly attached to the included blue printed booklet covers at the end. 1818:2. Heft VII-XI. 3 p. + column 1107-2144 + 11 copper stitches neatly attached to the attached blue booklet covers at the end.
Lorenz Oken, actually Okenfuß, born August 1, 1779 in Bolsbach near Offenburg, died August 11, 1851 in Zurich, was a German natural philosopher of the school of Friedrich von Schelling.
