In 1921 André Delatte opened his first furnace, a small art glass factory Les Verreries de l'Est SA in Jarville near Nancy 4. From 1926, due to its success, the factory was expanded in Nancy itself, the engraving workshops at 3 16 rue de Metz and the headquarters quai Ligier Richier. At the same time that success was at the rendezvous, the workforce increased from around thirty to sixty skilled workers, often simply poached by the rival Glashütte Daum. The Daum house did not remain inactive in the face of this intervention: as early as 1922 it brought an action against the Delatte glassware for infringement, but Daum dismissed the appeal judgment5 . It is undeniable that when the two glassworks use the same techniques and the productions are close, especially through acid engraved vases or enamelled with naturalistic decoration, Delatte creates its own models that have their own style. brand". In the 1930s, due to the competition with Daum and especially the great crisis, the factory was the subject of an amicable liquidation 6 . Subsequently, following the closure of his factory in Nancy in 1938, André Delatte founded the company "Art et Verrerie" in Rive-de-Gier, a glass-making center - short-lived attempts to restart production; However, this new company name Art and Glassware was not successful and sees the permanent closure of the Delatte 1 operations.
