The portrait and a vignette engraved by C. F. Boethius. Maximilian Emanuel Prince of Würtemberg (1689-1709), Prince Max, was a great admirer of Charles XII and took office in 1703 and was appointed colonel of the Scanian Dragoon Regiment in 1709. He was captured at Poltava but received the Tsar's permission to return home to Württemberg. On the way home, however, he fell ill with a fever and died in Dubno, only 20 years old. Warmholtz 5547.
