Description

Carter participated from 1890 in William Flinders Petrie's excavations in Egypt, and in 1893-99 assisted Édouard Naville in the excavation of the Deiv el-Bakri temple and the publication of the results therefrom. In later years he mainly led the fifteen-year search for Tutankhamun's tomb on behalf of Lord Carnarvon, and was the one who discovered the tomb in the Valley of the Kings outside Luxor in 1922. - measures 9 cm. x 5.5 cm. Provenance: Sverker Hiort of Ornäs autograph collection.
