In the decades after the Second World War, aluminium made a remarkable journey from factories, aircraft and military equipment into offices and interiors. Designers such as Charles and Ray Eames and Jean Prouvé embraced its lightness, strength and modern look, often pairing it with plywood, moulded plastic and steel. Together, these materials reshaped how offices looked – and how people worked.

In this talk with Kayleigh Davies, we explore how industrial materials transformed office furniture.
