Jan Liljeqvist about his art:
"Painting as a result of purely visual experiences, no verbal philosophy around it, but only what the eye sees. Capturing and shaping through color. Visions that meet people's eyes daily on their walk in reality. Visions that themselves speak so strongly that they in themselves carry art to convey.
Shadows in the twilight suddenly come to life. Tunnels of darkness emerging from the silent gap. A tarpaulin that hides something unknown closes tightly around its secret. Guarding walls behind which unsuspected events unfold.
A remaining car on a street, stopped, staring hollow-eyed. At the gasworks explosions of light surrounded by silent darkness. A car graveyard where a tone of annihilation beats out of the torn metal skeletons doors. A person with cell fear seen inside a closed room. To see in the dark.
A house wall whose color shines faintly because it has been hit by a distant light, or a staircase without electricity, where one senses someone invisible inside. in the dark.
That which in a state of extinction, for a moment touches eternity, has in its unconscious beauty a visionary power".
