Crafoord Auktioner Stockholm presents over 30 original works by pop artist Petter Thoen.
Thoen (1943) is originally from Norway but moved to Sweden and then to the United States in the 70s. In the United States he worked as an art director, ran his own advertising company and won many well known awards.
Early in his career Thoen drew comic art and made covers for comic books, including Superman and Batman. In his artistry he borrows images from the world of comics and transform it to his own artistic expression. He both paint and do prints and everything he does is done with a lot of precision regarding details and colours.
Petter Thoen has done several large murals in New York, Los Angeles and Oslo as well as in several international art collections. His aim is to create "moments that make the observer smile" and gathers inspiration from the pioneers of pop art Warhol and Lichtenstein.
