It all started once upon a time in Bjärnum, where Uno and Östen Kristiansson grew up among furniture factories. From an early age, they accompanied their father to his carpentry workshop. In the summers, they hammered packaging and ran errands. But then came the war, and after that, the fire that took the entire factory.
The two brothers furthered their education separately and gained experience here and there before the first LUXUS catalog page was completed in 1950. After that, things progressed quickly. With white opal glass in various shapes, combined with stands and lamp arms in oak and teak, the small company took the market by storm. Then came acrylic plastic, a durable material that became enormously popular in the European lighting market during the 1950s.
It was also during this time that LUXUS developed the TEXOLUX shade, which would characterize a great number of lamps from the factory for many years. By the late 1960s, the business shifted towards the expanding public sector. Schools, churches, parish halls, and hotels ordered LUXUS lamps in large quantities.
At Göteborgs Auktionsverk, we present over a hundred lots from LUXUS' production. Browse through elegant fixtures in teak, oak, and opal glass to colorful accents in plastic and glass. Welcome to explore the catalog!
