Through the theme "Sigrid, Isaac & Iván," Stockholm Auction House Globen allows us, through a keyhole, to glimpse into one of the most legendary Swedish artist families. The couple Grünewald, individually two of the greatest modernists in Sweden, and together perhaps the brightest stars in the Swedish art scene of the 20th century, have long been part of our visual canon. In this curated selection, we encounter some of their works alongside creations by their son, Iván. Among his paintings presented here, the piece "Paris" stands out, showcasing a naive landscape tradition with warm colors. A self-portrait of Isaac during his stay at Långholmen Prison in May 1926 is likely to attract bidders. The same can be said for Sigrid's ink study of their son Iván. In addition to paintings and drawings, we are also offered color samples from Isaac Grünewald's studio, presented on limestone.
