In the 51 lots that constitute the contents of Crafoord Auctions in Lund, the theme of Art Glass covers the majority of modern Swedish artistic glass creation. In a selection ranging from a vintage graal bowl by Simon Gate to Bertil Vallien's brand-new piece 'Brains,' we encounter several of our greatest artists in the field. Edvin Öhrström is represented, among other things, by a metallic green Ariel vase from 1957. Edward Hald is noted for a bowl in the engraved graal technique, reportedly originally intended for the National Museum.
A true rarity can be found in Tyra Lundgren's bowl 'Camé' with sandblasted fish decor. It presents something truly extraordinary from the fascinating context of the 1930s. The aforementioned Bertil Vallien has created the sculpture 'Gate Keeper,' a 43 cm long boat, presented here in its original box. Much like Eva Englund's 'Muraya' vase, it belongs to the auction's highlight lots. Also worth mentioning are Mona Morales-Schildt's 'Ventana' vases in various colorways, Sven Palmqvist's chubby 'Ravenna' bowl, and Gunnar Cyrén's 1960s classic 'Pop,' a marker of its time.
Choosing a favorite from the displays is no easy task and is left to you. Welcome
