During the 1920s and 1930s, gifts made of pewter became highly fashionable. It was also during this time that Estrid Ericson established the company Svenskt Tenn on Strandvägen in Stockholm. However, she was far from alone in offering candlesticks, covered jars, vases, inkwells, mirrors, and lamps. And it is precisely this diversity that becomes clear when Hälsinglands Auktionsverk now presents almost 50 lots in a curated selection of modern objects made of pewter.
An early bowl by Estrid Ericson is one of the highlights, as well as an elegant jug from GAB and a tall slim vase by Edwin Ollers for Schreuder & Olsson. These three good examples of the elegant forms of the 1920s and 1930s. But the auction's top lot is something entirely different, namely a table lamp from Walter Scherf & Co in an Art Nouveau style that anticipates the aesthetic ideals of the subsequent Modernism. In addition to the aforementioned, there are also a pair of candlesticks by Celestin Andersson, a bowl by Anna Thulin, a spherical candy dish by Sylvia Stave, and much more.
