Stockholm's Auction House has placed a mighty magnet at Nybrogatan 32 in Stockholm. It attracts collectors, experts, and connoisseurs from all corners. Not so strange when what is presented as a significant collection of Swedish militaria is an exceptionally well-composed and cohesive auction with plenty of treasures for the informed.
For example, Lieutenant Oscar Philipson's uniform group, which is nothing less than a piece of Swedish military history collected in one single lot. The same can be said for the sabretache from Småland's Hussar Regiment with provenance from Colonel Gilbert Hamilton and the diplomatic uniform once belonging to attaché Gunnar Hägglöf. These are all remarkable items being auctioned off alongside the collection's main attraction: Oscar II's general's uniform for the Life Guards. But the auction has more to offer. The detailed officer portrait in oil from the first half of the 19th century should be highlighted here, as well as Karl XIII's seal stamp and the abundant supply of cartridge boxes, the silver-plated day tray, all uniform plates, the pair of trunks, and all those items that only the most seasoned enthusiasts truly appreciate.
