In the auction “Swedish Prints”, Karlstad–Hammarö Auction House presents a curated selection of Swedish graphic art, with a particular focus on works from the mid to late 20th century. The sale comprises more than 100 prints by both well-known and widely beloved artists such as Lars Lerin, Lennart Jirlow, Lennart Rodhe and Maja Fjaestad, shown alongside lesser-known yet artistically accomplished printmakers and perceptive chroniclers of their time.
The selection reflects both the breadth and the quality of the Swedish graphic tradition, encompassing works that are purely decorative as well as those with a more pronounced social or political commentary. Many of the prints are unmistakable expressions of their era, bearing traces of the artistic and ideological movements that emerged around the 1968 movement and its aftermath — a period that left a lasting imprint on Swedish art history.
Graphic art is an accessible and affordable field, offering the opportunity to begin a collection, deepen an existing one, or acquire an expressive work that adds character and personality to a home — all without compromising on artistic quality, craftsmanship or authenticity.
