Like a box of chocolates assembled by a confectioner with the most exquisite touch imaginable – that is one way to describe Design Sale XVII. And as the Roman numerals suggest, the specialists at Crafoord Auktioner have done this before – which shows with every desirable detail.
Here, we are treated to cool Swedish Grace, austere modernism, chunky pine, abundant Folkhem design, a pinch of Jugend, and a few pieces that defy easy placement in style and design history. All blended in a carefully measured mix.
Nils Fougstedt’s wall clock in pewter and brass is a delight for the eyes. Inga-Britt “IBE” Dahlquist’s pendant in teak (!) and bronze is jewelry art of the highest order. And Johan Rodhe’s 30-piece cutlery set “Konge”/“Acorn” is pure luxury for the dining table.
In a catalogue spanning over 270 lots, we also find works by Josef Frank, Bertil Vallien (check out the boat!), Bruno Mathsson, Nina Koppel, Carl Malmsten, Tom Dixon, Lisa Larson, Wilhelm Kåge, and many, many more.
A warm welcome!
