Kolonn’s Treasures – yes, the title alone makes it clear that this auction offers something a little extra, something out of the ordinary, and that one should perhaps pay special attention so as not to miss anything.
Just look at the writing desk by Johan August Gustafsson. If that isn’t a treasure, then hardly anything deserves to be called one. Exhibited at both Millesgården and the Kalmar Art Museum. The piece is pure delight – note the lions on the drawer fronts! – a work with few counterparts. And it sits beautifully alongside the art objects in Blyberg porphyry and cast iron, the miniature portraits on copper plates, and Johan Erik Höglander’s Gustavian chairs.
Among the more petite items you’ll find a cigarette case with rich decoration, a pair of silver sugar bowls that will celebrate 200 (!) years next year, and a magnificent bowl from the Jubilee Exhibition in Nyköping in 1914. The latter is worth studying up close – the oak leaves, the roots, and those footed endings in the shape of acorns – wow!
The catalogue contains 60 carefully selected lots. You’d be wise not to miss a single one.
Welcome!
