Erik “Reimhultarn” Reimhult (1915–1999) – The Sculptor Who Captured the Soul of Nature
Erik Reimhult was born in Hjorted, Kalmar County, and was deeply rooted in the nature of Småland — a connection that is vividly reflected in his art.
Reimhult began carving figures at an early age and gradually developed his own style, often using bold, rustic forms to give his sculptures a vivid and powerful expression. He studied at the Västervik School of Wood Sculpture and later apprenticed with Bror Hjorth in Uppsala. Reimhult is also represented with several public works.
His art frequently revolved around Nordic wildlife, and he depicted the forest’s deer, moose, foxes, and wild boar with great empathy and intensity. His sculptures are marked by a strong presence and a remarkable ability to capture the raw spirit of the animals.
This special auction presents the opportunity to acquire nearly 30 of the artist’s works. The focus is on his wooden sculptures, but the auction also includes drawings, ceramic reliefs, and a carved wooden panel — one of his earliest pieces.
Thelin & Johansson warmly welcomes you to the world of Erik Reimhult!
