A song thrush stands in one of the display cases at Stockholms Auktionsverk Magasin 5. Designed by Oiva Toikka, it was produced only from 1984 to 1986. Next to it is a saucer whose colors whisper northern lights against a black night sky, designed by Kaj Franck. But otherwise, it’s mostly Swedish as Stockholms Auktionsverk’s branch in Frihamnen presents a Glass Auction that pushes the boundaries.
Some of the most spectacular pieces (in this case, figures) are by Kjell Engman. Göran Wärff, on the other hand, is represented by his organic creations for Kosta, which look like something nature has created over centuries. Add Amanda Cardell’s sandblasted "textiles," and you have the three pillars on which the theme rests. This is spiced up with classics by Vicke Lindstrand, Edward Hald, and Bertil Vallien, a schnapps devil by Gunnar Cyrén, and a window ornament by Erik Höglund that’s almost blush-inducing to mention.
Welcome!
