Icones Floræ Danicæ is a remarkable work, funded by kings, spanning over a century. It refers to the illustrated volume Flora Danica, whose first edition was published in 1761. It depicted Danish, Icelandic, and Greenlandic flowers and plants. The illustrations also served as the inspiration for an extraordinary dinner service, which was first set on a table in 1790. The Royal Porcelain Factory was responsible for its production, and porcelain painter Johann Christoph Bayer decorated the 1,802 (!) pieces. In the 1860s, production resumed, and now Stockholms Auktionsverk Göteborg presents a fantastic collection of this botanical porcelain. Perhaps you need to complete a set, start a collection, or simply acquire one piece of this ultimate dinner service. Now is your chance!
