Now we spotlight design from our neighbouring country Finland at Göteborgs Auktionsverk. With its timeless, simple, and minimalist style inspired by nature, it is right on trend. Alvar Aalto's furniture and the "Octo" lamp by Seppo Koho are fine examples of this tradition and can be found among the 42 lots we present in the catalog. Finnish design also has another more playful side with a colourful and pattern-rich production, where sculptures by Eero Aarnio and patterns from Marimekko are fine examples. Finnish glassware has a long tradition, and several of Oiva Toikka's expressive birds are featured in the catalog. Vases and bowls in glass designed by Tapio Wirkkala and Kaj Franck mingle with ceramics by Birger Kaipiainen and jewellery by Björn Weckström.
